An afternoon at Gillware…
Fridays are often my days in the trenches at Gillware Data Recovery. It’s a nice place to spend “the rest of my week.”
Of course, any time spent writing is simply awesome, but I like the energy that fills the air here at Gillware. A quiet hum of production. Phones ring often, technical guys do their work on the phone, and in the safe extraction of data, and new drives are checked in for their journey through the process of making them good again.
Today, while I write I’m actually installing Windows 7 on my laptop. I’ve actually been looking forward to it all week, and it’s a lot less stressful doing it here, where I can get the help I need if I need it. I installed a new hard drive too so it’s a fresh start, and also something I’ve never attempted on my own before. It just seems like too many times in the past, a job like this seemed simple on the front end, and then came out ugly on the other. Kind of like those hot wings that are often so tempting on the appetizer list.
So far, so good. In fact, pretty simple. Of course, everything is always easier when you’re surrounded by experts. Similar to the job of data recovery, this job requires a series of steps and at any of those steps, there is the potential of a problem that will require a solution. Fortunately, I have those experts to back me up…
30 minutes later…
I’m happy to report all went smoothly and to those who have been considering whether or not to take advantage of Windows 7 I can only say…What are you waiting for? Especially if you’re moving from Vista like I did. Don’t wait any longer. Do it now!
As for keeping your data safe during the move? See my next post for that information and how we handled it today at Gillware Data Recovery.
