We can save your data, but we can’t save you from yourself: Part II

I want to tell you the story of a very lucky man…

He is a customer of ours and what happened to him could easily happen to you, so please pay close attention

Once we’ve recovered data for a customer and received payment for that service, we burn the customer’s data onto a set of DVDs and send it off in the mail.  Sometimes, a customer prefers to purchase an external drive from us, and we send that instead.  We keep the data for about a week and then it’s gone.  The rest is up to you.

The first step on your end is to make sure that your newly recovered data is protected and once again, your best fail-proof protection is to set up our Remote Data Backup Service.  Surprisingly, many customers refuse this service at least initially.  I can certainly understand the fact that you’ve just invested a significant amount of money and spending more right at that moment is a tough decision.  though it shouldn’t be.  What’s perplexing to me is that it’s not just more money spent, it’s literally an investment in NEVER having to go through what you just went through EVER AGAIN!

Here’s why this blog post is so Vitally Important and why this guy is so damn lucky…

First of all, included with the data package that we send you is a note that warns you to “Verify Your Data within 2 Business Days of Receipt of Your Package.”  We don’t keep your data around for very long unless you’re paying us to do that.  Your data is your responsibility once the work on our end is complete.

This guy waited a whopping 2 months to verify his data, and when he went to go hook up that external hard drive to his computer?  He knocked it off his desk on the floor while it was running.  Hard drives spinning at 7200 RPMs that hit the floor from the height of your desk usually don’t make it out of surgery.  That kind of accident is catastrophic to your hard drive.

So, this guy’s drive was now dead and most likely unrecoverable.  Lucky for him we still had his data, and we were able to work with him to provide another copy of this critical data.

If you’re a data recovery customer of ours make sure you verify that data as soon as you receive it.  And then make sure to at least consider our remote data back-up system.  It will be the last thing you’ll need to do to keep your data safe forever.  Well, I guess you’ll have to mark new folders and files for back-up once in awhile, but really, that’s it!

If you’re data is truly important to you.  And we know that it is, why wouldn’t you at least consider our remote data back-up system.
